About Me

Todd, Alice, & Casper Jake

Todd grew up in Newtown, Connecticut, where as a young athlete he participated in multiple sports with a focus on soccer.  He enjoyed almost every position on the field, although his quick feet and prowess landed him as goalie more often than not.  He started swimming in high school, was named captain of the varsity team in his senior year, and continued participating in the sport with the University of New Hampshire’s Division I swim team.  He specialized in distance freestyle and was awarded most improved swimmer his sophomore year in college after dropping three minutes off his PR mile swim (16:48).

After college, Todd moved to Washington, DC, completed law school, and worked a short stint at the Environmental Protection Agency.  In 2007, Todd’s passion for renewable energy and cleantech led him to start his own consulting practice, TRBeyond Consulting, LLC.  After working a few years to establish his business and with more flexibility in his schedule, he became certified as a cycle instructor and began teaching classes at a boutique personal gym in 2011.  He soon returned to running and swimming and within months, he was running sub 17 minute 5ks and placed 3rd overall at the 2012 Bethany Beach triathlon in Delaware.

In January 2013, Todd continued to show drastic improvements in all three sports.  His respectable results for the 2013 season included a 2nd place overall amateur at the Syracuse Ironman 70.3 and a 1st place overall finish at his first-ever Olympic-distance triathlon.  In 2014, he won his age group at Ironman Eagleman 70.3, qualified, and raced at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Todd works in the Office of General Counsel as an attorney at the Department of Energy, which gives him the opportunity to enjoy daily commutes on his single-speed along the Potomac River.  He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Alice, and two sons, Gavin (5), and Grady (4).  With his love for the outdoors, a passion for the sport of triathlon and the regimented training that goes with it, Todd eagerly anticipates new and exciting accomplishments in the coming years.
